Well of course they teach human reproduction in biology and other classes. But the specific sex-ed classes (how to put a condom, STDs, etc) have been retired since at least 10 years.

That's a tremendous surpise to me and a tremendous shame.

I don't think anyone has an argument that English classes interfere with their religious freedoms.

And my point is that learning about other religions doesn't interfere with that Charter right either.

We need to leave that up to the people. That's not our call to make. Personally I would agree, but I'm very open minded. I learned about Roman Gods in school and evolution. I also went to school when we still read the bible and said the Lords Prayer. None of those things had an affect on me one way or the other.

Is this not the reason why they have Catholic schools separated by public schools?

What level of schooling is this for anyways? The article is pretty vague.

A lot of people aren't Catholic.

No, that's why they teach things in Public schools that Catholic schools don't teach and vice versa.

What I mean is a lot of protestants or other religions probably won't be going to catholic school. They'll be in the public school system.

The Catholic "priviledge" in education was part of the 1867 Constitution. It came long before the Charter of Rights.

Wonderful. Glad I have the 'privilege' of not going to enforced Christian schools.

You're right of course. I never really gave much thought to people who may be of other religious minorities who went to public schools. I always thought of public schools as...not religious.

Well they pretty much are. I don't think anyone cared one way or the other when I was in high school. There were far more important things to worry about, like finding a date.

My eldest son went to a Catholic school(Dominican) while here in Taiwan. Evolution was taught in their Science classes. They had Divinity classes, taught by the priest, for religious topics.

Isn't that a conflict of interest? Evolution and divinity.

The two are not mutually exclusive.

I think they are.
