Fox News North? QMI bids for all-news network
Khar Khar:
After we had the activist from the boats in Israel and a special report from a lady who had a lot of questionable opinions about religion and the conservatives take center stage on CBC, it is easy to see why some people see it as bias, especially since the book's author was quite questionable and the reuters image of what was "unarmed victims" according to the activist on CBC turned out to be a little bit of Reuters cropping and blind-eye journalism, although of course, this could always be a mistake on the part of CBC.
Also, if a media broadcaster truly is biased, than I also doubt that the political parties being more or less supported would be angry about it. The inception of any right leaning media broadcaster, even if it was mild and not something similar to Fox, would send the Liberal, Green and NDP howling as much as the CBC sends the Conservatives howling, I bet -- something that the CBC did intend to investigate (but we've heard no news on that since) as a news article commented on in here mentioned.
Validating or rationalizing potential bias on one side because "it's not as bad as the other side" makes little sense in my books, personally -- it still means they are biased, and that simply cannot be ignored, especially since one runs on public funds. *shrugs* I would prefer that bias be recognized rather than swept under the carpet to any degree, as I'd hope you'd agree in regards to any potential right leaning media broadcaster, should this go beyond the bidding stage and become a new station.
Utter nonsense. The ones howling are just more prone to howling. It's as simple as that. Compare Fox to CNN, their predecessor, there's no way you can say with a straight face that CNN is as biased as Fox News. If you can, you completely lack judgment.

the CBC is a paragon of balanced fair reporting.
That's some funny shit right there.

FINALLY! Harper and his Harperite Party of Canada will see a news agency capable of getting their point of view out to the Canadian people in an "unbiased" fashion.

Or perhaps a private company is reaching out to a market that's largely untapped?
I say let them, it'll probably be as popular and low brow as the Sun newspapers. I can always use another laugh in my life!

Fox News north?.....Why do we need yet another purely fictional television channel? Will it be wall to wall "reality" shows?
it will only be right leaning if you tip the TV until CBC is standing straight

what is Glee going to do without the title of "worst thing on TV" ??

Never seen it. But is it really worse than Glenn Beck?

Your comment showcases exactly what I was talking about. As I said in the final paragraph, any bias, no matter how small, should be recognized, man – so what if it’s not
as biased? It still
is biased. Know if a station is somewhat biased, wholly biased or which way they lean. There was a thread here which discussed CBC bias in which many said that they felt it was significantly left leaning, or at least favouring the Liberal Party – my remark was to say that that should not disappear given that there may be an equal or worse biased media outlet coming to Canada.
I did not say they were equal. To get that out of my comments takes some mighty reading between the lines, and I didn’t put any text in there, so I don’t know where you are pulling it from. I said they were both biased to some degree, and yeah, there may be difference, but it makes no sense to me to say “while this one is MORE biased, so let’s not consider that the other one is also biased to some extent.”
Also, unless you have some prescient knowledge of those parties, I really doubt you can know that for sure, that they wouldn’t howl, because I bet that they would – both sides howl a ton when they are in the commons for the same reason, and I bet the derision would continue outside of the commons as well had it reason to. I’m not prescient either – but I said “I bet.”

“Can you imagine Ezra Levant ranting at you around the clock?”
As much as I lean conservative the Ezra Levant Channel would be a bit much lol
I may not agree with Ezra Levant all the time but the guy has balls I'll give him that. Plus he is pretty good at back himself up, like the CTV powerplay with him vs CHRC.

Where you're failing and every Fox Defender Fails, is in equating one Bias for another. Whether CBC or CNN has a Bias or not is one thing, but they both strive for Balance and Unbiased Reporting. Fox or a "Conservative" Media outlet is by Default Biased from the start and does not strive for an Unbiased position. That is a huge fundamental difference in philosophy and clearly puts Fox and its' ilk in the camp of Propaganda rather than News Media.
Fox north should be interesting. I wonder how they'll populate it. Do we really have a raging right the way America does? Where's our Beck, Hannity, and O'Reilly? There's a guy with a British accent I've heard a couple of times who's pretty good. Anybody know who I'm talking about? I think he has a talk show in Ontario. I like Charles Adler, but I don't know if he has a TV friendly persona. Maybe they could lure Mark Steyn, or David Frum home. Levant seems pretty one issue.
Overall though our right wing seems pretty pussy compared to the Yanks, don't you think?
They tell me this one's right wing.

I don't get that vibe myself, or at least the vibe is not rocking. It's not exactly inspiring me to go out, and create the Canadian Tea Party. I don't mind it though, so maybe it is right wing.
The only Canadian Right wing blog I know is this one.

They uncover the stories the MSM won't cover some times, which is one of the things I like best about right wing media, but it's hardly Michelle Malkin.
Speaking of SmallDeadAnimals, they linked me to this CBC poll where 73% want a Fox news-like channel.
