BluesBud BluesBud:
My point Khar is that no other Political Party in Canada does as much whining, moaning and belly aching about their "tarnished image" and "media bias" as the Harperites. If it was truly a problem all Political Parties would have a problem. The Canadian media is the Canadian media LIVE WITH IT!. Just because one Party can not propagandize and call it news does not make it a bias.

In contrast with FOX News in the US, (the supposed model for the Canadian Network) the CBC is a paragon of balanced fair reporting. FOX news is not news but entertainment(and sometimes barely that). At least the news is the news on CBC and other Canadian news sources and not packaged commentary.

Wow.

Talk about being unaware of others viewpoints.

I can assure you that most right wing Canadians don't live in mobile homes just as much as left leaning Canadians aren't all pot smoking hippies.

In fact, and again, CBC polled, asking people if they'll watch a Fox News-like station. 71% say they will. That's a mighty big trailer park.

That's another thing that's going to be fun about this. When this new network rules the news ratings up here like Fox News does down south, it's going to be oh so much fun rubbing noses in that fact.

The same tiny group of lefties will pull at their hair (assuming they have some), whine, and squeal, and try to make enough noise to make themselves seem large, hurling insults in every direction, but we the majority will just scratch our heads, and say, "Yeah, but they're # 1 in the ratings".

The right-wing is the majority? Oh that's cool.

Anyhow, this channel is all we need to help piss in the tossed salad that is Canada. I'm sure it'll incur the best of people and help inspire the glorious and fascinating cultural war that we see each day in the US.

Fuck.

I suppose it might slightly offset the Soviet views in your basement. Maybe.

At last !

Agreed, finally something for the other half of Canadians.

Probably like the other quarter or maybe third of Canadians. If half of Canadians were truly Conservative, there wouldn't be a minority government... :)
I'm sure there are a lot of right leaning Canadians that don't like the current leadership of the Conservative party. Don't forget Mulroney once had a majority.

Proculation @ Sun Jun 13, 2010 9:07 am

Also, don't forget Quebecers. The conservatives loose a lot to the Bloc.

It won't be 50% but if the Bloc was not there, the Conservatives would have a majority government.

So after convincing enough people that all the other news media are biased a lot will buy the notion that reporting with a clearly stated intentional bias is actually news?
Works well on a population used to 'Eleven at Eleven' and E.T. but I'd hoped we weren't so dumbed down.

Proculation @ Sun Jun 13, 2010 9:26 am

What's wrong of having a different opinion in the media ?

Apollo @ Sun Jun 13, 2010 9:27 am

I'm not suprised by many of the comments here.

Liberals are all about freedom of speech as long as it's in line with their views and opinions.

I love the irony of all this.

If liberals (small "l") are so sure of themselves and their morals, they should have no problem with an alternative view on things.

That's basically the jist of it.

I find IE the CBC terribly biased and one sided. Where as even the thought of Fox North up here they find terribly offensive already even though nothing has aired yet. Fear mongering 101, I didn't hear a peep when Al-Jazeera got the rights to broadcast. But yes I understand right leaning white dudes are just more nefarious, scourge of the earth.

Typical reaction, there will even be a movenment to shut it down just watch. That will make Liberals proud everywhere I'm sure, poor bastards.

Freedom of speech is just that. It doesn't only apply to the CBC and CTV. It also means that right-of-centre views should be allowed a voice. People can always change channels.

In Canada at the moment we have left of centre channels up the ying-yang. There is nothing wrong with a bit of diversity of choice and nobody forces you to watch.

We don't have "Left of Center" channels. Sorry, it's the simple truth of the matter.
