With reference to the post that begins this thread, reading through the thread it is apparent that many cling stubbornly to baseless and false assumptions about homosexuality. This brings into clear focus the need to educate young people with the most recent knowledge to counter the significant misapprehensions of a large number of people.
Eventually to call something "gay" will be as inappropriate as racial epithets..
I'd suggest that a heterosexual (one of the majority) calling something or someone "gay" as an insult (homosexuals being a minority) is equivalent to a Caucasian calling a black man "nigga." That minority has taken ownership of the term in defiance of how it was once used in a most unpleasant way. Not a wise choice for a Caucasian to say in daily life and most definitely not appropriate in a workplace.
The word "gay" is still used as an insult by the majority.
It is disinegenuous to claim it is not an insult because it is used within the minority as well ( if it is - I question that.)
