That doesn't mean Pets...
Pets are NOT a Luxury, they are a family Member!!!!

I absolutely disagree with this statement. A pet is an animal, and you CHOOSE to have one, just as you CHOOSE to buy a flatscreen.
A pet is a CHOICE, and you have to look after it and take care of it for the rest of its life. If you cannot afford that, you should not be able to have one. For the pets sake, and for your own.

A pet is a luxury, no necessity.

It depends on where you live and what secondary, or in some cases primary, purpose the pet serves. It has been proven that pets provide a therapeutic benefit those who are alone. That being said, I would only extend this to larger dogs......I don't really like cats or toy breeds of dogs..........actually, I can't stand toy breeds.

Then your dog is no pet, but your eyes, thus an employee.

An employee? Just can't see it. Also, pets have an emotional link and provide stability and companionship you can't say the plasma TV is family.

A dog when you are blind, is a worker. It works for you. Same goes for a dog that helps you when you are disabled.
People on the streets are not allowed to pet it, like a normal pet. It is sponsored too, and if it isn't, it should be. It is trained as well.

A pet just for fun, is just for fun. If you are on welfare, it is kinda hard to pay the the vets bills, right? Also, not everybody on welfare is alone or lonely.

A pet is a pet, not a family member. IMHO, that is. I had pets. Cats as well as dogs. All my life. But they are absolutely not the same as my family members. Not even close.

If you can pull your own weight you can do what ever you like ( as long as it does not infringe on any ones freedoms or rights )...But if you need to be dependent on others or welfare in this case then yes there needs to be rules and programs in place geared to getting the individual off of assistance. Other wise you are just feeding a bottomless pit...And we all know there are career dependants out there. ...........
A pet is a pet... If you think there is no emotional attachment between a seeing eye dog or a police K9 with there respective owners u r confused...And there are many out there who respect and value there pet more than some family members..

I never said there is no emotional attachment at all. I have had pets. For a reason. But when I have to choose between feeding my kids or my pets, or taking my kids to the doctor or my pets, the choice is an easy one. The pet goes.

If society pays for my food, why should I be allowed to have a pet anyway?

Great another one of those who think that animals are not to be side by side with people on this planet and let me guess, you have not "chosen" to have a pet - yet have chosen material over what has life!!!!!

A Companion, a friend, a protector, a MUCH needed Asset - something people have no time to share - and what country did you say you were from? Never mind! What a waste either way.
Money or a plastic piece of technology, will not help you when the time comes chick - but a dog will - which is more than I can say about people

Now I am only quoting this piece of shit text from you, because the rest is really to puke about. Read, sweety, READ.

I have said before, I have had pets, all my life. I don't have them now, because I wouldn't want to take a pet on a trip for over 2 days, in a cage. Oh, yeah, I am the animal hater, am I not?

I said, that if you CANNOT AFFORD TO TAKE YOUR PET TO THE VET, OR FEED IT PROPERLY, you should not have one, not for your own sake, nor for the pets sake.

If you cannot afford to have pets, you WANT THE PET ANYWAY? Are you seriously telling me, that you choose to feed pets and take em to the vets over having your kids in proper clothes? I am not talking about people who work for their money and can afford to have one. I am talking about people who are on WELFARE, profiting from society.

Obviously, you want them all to have pets, and let them breed whatever they want (they will not neuter them, no money for that), so there will be more stray dogs and cats on the loose, because they cannot take care of them.

Now get real, and take a look into real society.

Jesus christ, it is fucking hard to read now, isn't it?

A large bag of reasonable quality dog food costs $22.00 - a bag like that lasts my Collie (85 lbs) a little over 2 months - averagi8ng with tax $10 a month - whoooaa - that outta break the bank eh!!!
A large bag of reasonable quality cat food costs $9.48 - and lasts ONE cat almost 3 months - now $3.20 is surely breaking the bank and taking the food out of mouths of babes eh?
And with 16,900 post there hun, you obviously haven't much else to do but share an arrogant opinion....
AND lovey buns, SPCA charges $55 for a spayed animal -
Being an Animal Rescue and Shelter you're way off in left field... like I said 16,900 posts just on CKA - must take up a lot of your time as you seem to have nothing better to do but be opinionated - welcome to Canada by the way -

As an Animal Rescue and Shelter, we HELP people who cannot afford things during trying times... I mean c'mon $3.20 a month or even $10. a month for a LARGE dog, WHO are you kidding besides yourself? And yes, we have a hard time - cuz of narrow minded people who have nothing to share but a worthless opinion - i wish for you what you have degraded upon others...

I don't need your welcome. Thanks anyway.

Yeah, the food costs that much, when they are healthy... And what does a vet cost? And medication? You still haven't read properly, did ya? WHEN YOU CANNOT AFFORD A PET YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ONE. When you can, no problems at all.

I know you are an animal shelter, I read your blog...
