Hardy Hardy:
"Every time we do something you tell me Americans will do this and will do that. I want to tell you something very clear, don't worry about American pressure on Israel, we, the Jewish people control America, and the Americans know it."
-- Ariel Sharon to Shimon Perez, 28 Sept. 2001

He misspoke, however. Or, more accurately, was "talking trash." Most of the US's political machinery do not dare upset AIPAC, but AIPAC is no more representative of the Jewish people than the US legislature (27% approval rating) correctly represents its citizens' wishes. Had he said "the Israeli government's lobby contols the US government" he would have been much closer to the truth.

Ah, conspiracy theories. I love em! It's that damn Jew lobby controlling the world again! I think you can find that one about Jews controlling the US government right after the one about 4000 Jews failing to show up for work at the WTC on Sept 11.

Where'd you get that quote Hardy? From the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion?"

Pick your side Robair, is it the Terrorists and their sympathisers or is it the democracy surrounded by hostile states fighting for it's survival?

I think its a pretty easy choice.

Or is it more complicated than just "picking a side"? Yep, it is!

If you have an opinion on this , well you have picked a side.

Even a scared little mouse like you has an opinion.

I read the whole article but the four (yes I counted them!) words Ms. Akhras uttered are the ones that made me take notice.

"Hezbollah is our protector"

Sometimes the OPP are my protectors, What's the big deal?

$1:
You need to pick a side old chum. Standing on that fence is bad for you.

Maybe he's not sitting on the fence. Maybe he's a little more perceptive of reality than that and knows that it's better to let the two fight it out and root for neither. That way, the both look pretty stupid with blood on their faces.

The big deal is, OPP are not a proscribed terrorist group.

Are you really that slow?

And I'll go with our Prime Minister on this. The bad boys are Hezbollah.

I don't really need to be spoon fed the facts on this before I decide that a well known terror group attacked IDF soldiers in Israel, killed 8 and kidnapped two. The same group then started to fire rockets at civilian targets.

Then Israel responded.

That too complicated an issue for you to decide who is the bad boy in this?

Or am I just not being perceptive enough for a timid mouse?

Conservative MP Garth Turner said the Canadians with two passports are not "accidental tourists" and taxpayers might question the cost.

[cheer] [cheer] [cheer] [cheer]

The policy might get changed before these so_called Canadian’s get home.

Logistically it is a very daunting task to evacuate so many people. My problem is this:

Why do we not have a military presence there making sure our citizens are not targeted while this evacuation takes place? A Canadian Frigate or three escorting the cruise ships? Soldiers assisting the 30,000 plus get onto the ships? Hell I just read that there is confusion as to what ship our citizerns are to board, and which are Canadians. This should not be an issue. Each of these ships should have full escort. What if one or more of these were to be targeted by either Hezbollah, or isreali planes? As for the lack of Identification on the shipds to be boarded-shit a 40 x 80 Canadian flag hjanging from each would do. A bit sensitive for a war zone but with escort they surely wouldn't have a problem. The 16 or so military planners that were sent to the area is just not enough, and our military is not so stretched that we cannot afford a rescue operation in this area. I bet our troopos would jump at the chance to do such an operation, rescuing our citizens-it's what they are formed to do.

Where the blame lies in this I am not sure. Certain decisions should be allowed to be made by DND independantly of the executive office of Mr. Harper. This task should have been well underway before today, and should have been protected sufficiently. The lack of proper communication from any of the governments involved with respect to safe passge for our, or any other not involved country, in my opinion, is warrant enough to send a force to guarantee thier extraction.

Ok, where are these RCN ships gonna come from? We have 12. 6 out west and 6 on the east. Most of them are in refit and lack qualified sailors to man them. (I may be a ship out on this but its pretty accurate).

Furthermore where are we going to get the combat troops from? Most of them, as well as the logistic support elements required to support them,
are in Afghanistan.

The CF is at full stretch.

If Canada gets into the business of protecting dual nationality citizens it will have to expand it's military accordingly.
We have nothing after decades of neglect by both the Tories and most seriously by the Liberals.

These are the net results of the decay of the CF.
Our options are zero.
We have to rent options. We don't have a navy that patrols the world and we have little heli-op assault or recovery capability ships available.

If I remember two campaigns ago the Conservatives were lambasted at the idea of getting a helicopter carrier by our very own Liberals.

Would have been very useful now.

How can there be 40k so_called Canadians in Lebanon and only 25k Americans? We are 1/10th the size of the USA.

Riding the middle.

The exact definition of a Liberal. Sit on the fence until you see which side is winning and then surreptitiously join them.

You do remember Mr Dithers. A book with red covers is also good reading.

Didn't you know that Beruit was more popular for Canadian tourists than Cancun or the Mayan Riviera?

Or maybe its because the 'tourists' are really dual citizen Lebanese.

That is the big question in my mind. Do we just give these things away on the back of BC drivers licences?

Well they better get their asses home, we might need them to go back to fight for Canada.

If we could muster up a couple of frigates, it would take at least a week or two to get them to the eastern Medeterranian. The Italian and French navies are there because it's in their backyard. The Americans are there because they keep the 6th fleet permanently deployed to the Medeterranian.
