I'm not a left winger not right winger.

i adopt extreme left and right wing views.
your terrified of reality.
and you voted, like me and now refuse to see the writing on the wall.

have fun with that

Off topic, but....

I have to ask.

why do you type
like a 10 year old
learning to write on the
computer for the first
time?

Sentences are a wonderful thing.

So what led you believ that trudeau is light on substance then? Have you talked to him personally? That would seem to be the most reliable way to determine it. If not, where did you get your information from?

I've actually met Justin many years ago and his late brother, Michel. Granted, that was many years ago.

My opinion about Justin stems from his conduct in the House and his general conduct outside of his workplace. He's a very passionate man but he often speaks before he thinks. He gets all the points in the world for style, he doesn't have the experience as an MP or a leader to bring much substance to the table.

The only politican I ever met was the mayor of my town. I vote first and foremost for who will benefit me and my family. If there's no obvious winner in that category, I'll vote to move the incumbent, becasue I think the faster you change the politicains, the better. And I don't trust what I read in the papers, because of all the effort the parties put in to shaping public opinion.

Yea, and they still left office with more debt than when they started? Brilliant financial management eh? The best times for this Country and they didn't pay off enough of our debt.

Debatable.

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
And yet, still left us with billions more debt on the books than when he started.

It's amazing that during all those "surplus" times, they ignored our national debt and kept piling on more.

Huh? Canada's national debt when Chretien left office was about $450B, which is virtually the same number that it was when he took office. As a percentage of GDP, however, debt FELL during Chretien's term in office by about 1/3. On the other hand, Mulroney's term in office saw the debt balloon from $150B to $450B...it TRIPLED under Mulroney. Since Harper took office, the debt has climbed by another $100B and counting.

YEAR DEBT
1980 - $90B
1985 - $175B
1990 - $377B
1995 - $550B
2000 - $511B
2005 - $450B
2010 - $525B

Should Chretien have spent the surpluses more wisely? Yes. But the Liberal party's track record of managing the debt is MUCH better than the Conservatives, at least since 1980.

FieryVulpine @ Fri Apr 04, 2014 11:24 am

JT is not Chretien nor is he Martin. I expect the debt to balloon under him.

Zipperfish @ Fri Apr 04, 2014 12:11 pm

Whether or not the debt balloons has more to do with the vagaries of the global economy than anything.

Jabberwalker @ Fri Apr 04, 2014 12:28 pm

We swim in a great big economic ocean and we are only a bit bigger than a minnow. It is a political conceit that our Minsters have much control over our economy. They can turn the Keynesian tap on and off, though.

you obviously have drank the kool aid.
under the previous Liberals the economy was the largest ever.

the banking rules flaherty brags about were asked by the conservative party to be changed to wall street rules and Chretien said no.

i drank the kool aid too.. i know the signs.

you need to to get off it.

Yea,

honesty is a good thing.
knowing your drunk on political con is the first step.

now watch you slip

$1:

they had the largest surplus ever. Harper blew it before the 2008 meltdown.

$1:
Brilliant financial management eh?

Yes the liberals always cleaned up after the Conservatives, as was shown with the largest sur[plus ever after mulrony pretty much ruined everything built for Canada and sold out to america.
Mulroney ended up on 8 American executive boards after he resigned after he sold out with a NAFTA that always screws Canada.

$1:
The best times for this Country and they didn't pay off enough of our debt.

The surplus was blown by Harper by the summer of 2008,
$1:
The economy was strong, yet none of it was their doing.
actually your wrong As predicted by Chretien his last words after his long tenure was"watch all the cranes going up in Canada in the next few years.
it came true. all that economy was set in process long before Chretien left.

$1:
Our economy is driven by the World economy. It's exactly why our Country fell into a recession.

thats the kool aid talking.
you have no clue as to what our economy is.
the world collapsed totally…and we fared well .
in a world wide recession we felt only a blip.

all due to that which was put in place by liberal governments. like it or not it's the truth.

no conservative has done anything but sell out to america.

sell off crown corporations to other countries, Build toll roads in Ontario that end up being owned by spain, under the Harris regime.

you drink the kool aid like a pig at the trough of political spin.

and as for my typing.
i apologize for it, i've only really a solid grade nine education and some ten.

Grammar was never my forte.

but you go for the slum tactic, like it really matters to me.

you have no clue as to what drives our Country.
And who sells out our Country to america and beyond.

Does that include the Liberal PM who signed off on NAFTA about a year after his election campaign promised to tear the agreement up?

The FTA and the NAFTA should have included binding arbitration. Both were negotiated and signed by Conservative governments without it.
