His inability to talk to his own wife about it, makes it appear that he is also ashamed. His ability to vent in an "anonymous" internet forum reinforces that perception. So......what it comes down to is, he is FAR from "over it".
From the sounds of it.....if he has grown children like he says....then he is around my age. Back when I was growing up, the Catholic Church was not the only place children where "sexually abused". Many many families had the problem and it was handled "in house", which meant no police, no charges, no stigmatism.
Also, on a per capita basis, there are no more "pedophiles" in the preisthood then there is in the general public.

Well you sure taught me something. If it wasn't for you I probably would have gone through the rest of my life thinking that it is wrong for pedophile priests to molest children and thus i would also spend the rest of my life 'being angry' AT THEIR ORGANIZATION for continually denying and covering up! Well..... if you'd get over your anger you would have noticed that the Catholic Church has acknowledged their past mistakes in trying to hide pedophile preists. Also, one of the basic tennants of Christianity is the ability to forgive those that have "trespassed" against another. (Remember the Lords prayer?)
You'd be surprised what "forgiveness" can do for a person.
