Here is an interesting little tidbit about the Catholic Church and how unethical it can be.

At my son's school, the teachers were requesting a 10 % pay hike over three years and that they be paid over a 12 month period rather than a 10 month period. Now this was exactly what the other schools in the 'division', which includes Guam and Taipei already had in place. Currently, they make about US $1800 a month. I just found out today that rather than grant the teachers at my son's school, what the other schools have, they fired them all with 3 weeks left until the end of the school year. I have never witnessed the degree of prevaricating, cheating, lying and outright theft that I have seen occur at the hands of the nuns that run this school. And everyone thought I was nuts when I swore up and down that I could smell brimstone whenever one of them manifested at a meeting asking for tuition increases. Shit, I'm already paying close to S7 500 a semester for tuition now for one kid and $ 6 000 a semester for preschool. I guess it's time for home schooling, or to say screw the third world and head back home.

You might try that last option...

This is just a disgrace that should not be accepted. But I'm in the West, so it's easy for me to say...

Move up closer to your monitor and have another look at my post.

There is only ONE line of text

Hence there can be 'no reading between the lines!!!!!!!!

I'm quite sure that your Nana is a lovely person.
So too, are my sisters who are very involved with the catholic church
I love them dearly

That however does not change the fact that the catholic ORGANIZATION is a immoral, unethical, sleazy, lying, cheating, HYPOCRITICAL..........CULT!

Merriam-Webster Dictionary: cult; n; 1 formal religious veneration 2: a religious system; also: it's adherants 3faddish devotion; also: a group of persons showing such devotion--cult.ist n

The Catholic Church has its "difficulties" much like any other religion. i find it hard to accept your statement that "EVERYTHING is immoral, unethical, sleazy, lying, cheating and HYPOCRITICAL" because thats just not true.

Well how is my nana part of an immoral cult? Her church sorts clothes, fundraises money, and helps feed the less fortunate. She herself even knits wool sweaters for people for the winter months. But I guess what she is part of is just that bad according to you.

Also you cannot tell me you have never broken any commandments so who made you the moral police?

Like it or not. Nana is part of a cult! Individually, many of the people are very nice people.
SOME do good works. Many of those who are 'in charge' do not. They are self serving. Always at others expense.

I was born into the catholic religion. I had it shoved down my throat and up my ass! I was an altarboy. I had no say in the matter. Neither did any of the other male members of my family. When the priest said he was taking a few 'chosen' altar boys on a camping trip, It was never a question with parents as to whether or not the 'chosen one' would be going! I leave the 'week-end goings-on' to your imagination. We had NO WHERE to turn! No one would listen to us. It is still being denied!

We were little kids!

We did our chores all week in order to earn an allowance. Although we had earned it and it was supposed to be our spending money, we were 'guilted' into putting it in the collection plate on sunday.

We went to catechism for 2 hours on saturday and served mass on sunday. We attended every 'Holy Day of Obligation'.And there were many.We served/attended Benediction. This was not required of most adults. We gave up what our parents determined to be our favorite food/treat/activity for the month of lent. I don't ever recall my parents giving up a damn thing. Or any other adult for that matter! This in the name of strenghtening our belief in God! We were raised with the adage 'DO AS I SAY. NOT AS I DO'! Not just at home but everywhere within the catholic experience.Adults could and did do as they bloody well pleased and not even God could help the child who ever should question adult behaviorour.Punishment was swift and severe. But it was to be considered an honor to have the priest come over and have dinner with the family and drink till all hours!!!

Do you want to hear about catholic schools run by the nuns? I don't have any fond memories of those years either!

No wait! There are others on this board who experienced much of what I did and probably more. And they too attended catholic schools. Maybe one or two of them would tell you about their experiences.
Our chidhood was supposed to be carefree. Our teachers were supposed to look out for us. Protect us. They were supposed to be our role models. I thank God that I didn't grow up to be anything like them!

Commandments. Where the hell did that come from???

In the catholic church the 'commandments' are diligently enforced on the weak by the stong!

I have but one 'commandment' that I TRY to live by. BE NICE!

I am not always successful and I don't lose sleep over my failures. If I offend someone UNINTENTIONALLY, then I am quick to apologize. I do not live by the adage of 'turn the other cheek'!

So because you met some people who may be Catholics that you did not agree with or agreed their actions you now brand an entire community and label millions of people? I have met Jews I didn't like does that mean everyone who is a Jew or professes the Jewish religion is an arsehole? Also I have been to my nana's church and the pastor was a very nice fellow and not some perverted one or self-serving. She used to live in a community with one who was a bit peculiar and she was right and ended up getting him removed from his position. But that doesn’t mean she is going to throw away her bible because someone decided to take advantage of it.

If you want to say all Catholics are bad or their organisation is “immoral” because there are some people who you do not like that are then you might as well throw every religious, non-religious, and every other God believer in too.

Oh and the commandments came from God. ;) If you have not broken any you have a point but if you have then you are no better than every man out there so don't pretend you are.

!

Commandments. Where the hell did that come from???

"As far as I am aware, the basic tenets of the ten commandments are preached by MOST main stream religions!"

In the catholic church the 'commandments' are diligently enforced on the weak by the stong!

"MY experiences with the catholic religion has taught me this to be so"!

I have but one 'commandment' that I TRY to live by. BE NICE!

I am not always successful and I don't lose sleep over my failures. If I offend someone UNINTENTIONALLY, then I am quick to apologize. I do not live by the adage of 'turn the other cheek'!

"Based on the preceeding TWO statements, I don't see how you could infer that I am 'pretending to be anything'.

"If my memory isn't too badly damaged by the physical abuse that I took back then, it seems to me that ALL the nuns and priests, and teachers who work and teach within the catholic system are in fact catholic. So one might even go so far as to say that indeed, I did meet a 'few' people who'may' have been catholic!

If you want to say all Catholics are bad or their organisation is “immoral” because there are some people who you do not like that are then you might as well throw every religious, non-religious, and every other God believer in too.

" No where have I said that all people who happen to be catholic are bad people. There is good and bad in every group. I thought that I had made my view on that quite clear. Apparently not! I will, for the THIRD and final time try to get you to understand." OR GAN I ZA TION"!!!!!

Oh and the commandments came from God. ;)

" And you just know this to be true because you read it in a book that happens to be the most contradictory piece of literature ever published??

If you have not broken any you have a point but if you have then you are no better than every man out there so don't pretend you are.

I have so 'broken' several of the big 10. Big deal! What the hell does that have to do with anything in this conversation? Again , please point out to me how I am 'pretending' to be anything!

I guess it's OK to 'fuck kids and beat them' because there is no COMMANDMENT saying not to!

Actually, what you said was...

$1:
EVERYTHING...about the catholic CULT is immoral, unethical, sleazy, lying, cheating, HYPOCRITICAL...

EVERYTHING includes the people.

I did in fact say 'everyTHING' and I stand by that statement. I did however, several times qualify that statement by saying, to the effect that not ALL the catholic people are corrupt. Just the ORGANIZATION.

The hiearchy, the way they run things, the way they still try to sweep the dirt under the rug etc.

People, and I mean ALL people who may or may not attend a church or belong to a religious organization but belive in a higher power and live there DAILY life trying to help others and just 'being nice' in general cannot be faulted for that.

When someone whom you are supposed to have total trust is grabbing you by the dick and trying to convince you that it is ok, or is wakes you up in the middle of the night blowing you and again trying to convince you to reciprocate. Or some bitch in a black dress is smashing you in the side of the head with a hardcover 'Jesus book'. It's pretty goddamn hard to tell the difference!

It shows you are not a perfect person or any better then every other person out there. A sin is a sin and all people are sinners that is why Jesus died for all of them. So if you want to complain because someone touched you funny chances are you probably have stole something in your life time or done something wrong yourself. I’m not saying what happened to you is right in anyway but I don’t think how you are approaching or reconsolidating with it is really the right way to go.

If you dislike Catholicism that is fine but I wouldn't call it immoral or slander an entire organisation because you do not agree with it. When you do that you are targetting its followers as well which you know nothing about or have even ever met like my nana.

Also what happened to you could fall under:

"You shall not covet your neighbour’s house; you shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour’s"
