Do you consider this a hate crime?

So? Someone has called the muslim faith unclean. They have expressed their opinion about it, and now they may go to jail if found.

there's a difference between expressing an opinion and deliberately commiting an act intended to demean someone, if you honestly think that buying a copy of the Qu'ran, some bacon then taking the trouble to go to a mosque and leave it on the doorstep is the same as saying "I don't like Muslims" in a conversation with friends is the same thing then you are an idiot.
Actually I would say that's about the same. They are saying then it is stupid that you have to follow ridiculous rules.
Tricks Tricks:
It wasn't illegal. It was freedom of expression.
If someone threw dogshit at your house, would you appreciate their "freedom of expression"?
All they are "expressing" is hate, which can, in the US and Canada, be considered illegal. You are not free to incite hatred against a group of people.

A pig is an unclean animal to the muslim faith...... to place bacon in to a koran is to deem thier faith as unclean.
If that is not a hate motive what is? And if it was a joke could someone please explain the puchline to me!
if it pisses off moslems then thats the punchline..and moslems are far more dirty than pigs

They didn't say it though now did they....they can say what ever they want under the guise of freedom of expression.....
They can express what ever they wish in whatever manner they wish. If this weren't true, then muslims calling for the deaths of people should be considered a hate crime. It incites violence more then this does. It shows clear hate. Why no words from these people on that little gem?
$1:
the point here is that they did this and descrated someones holy place.......
So? People desecrate holy places all the time. Why is this different?

remember last year when the young fellow pissed on the war memorial

somethings you just don't do if your a decent human being
Lets see, poking fun at a religion versus insulting the memories of the people who gave us the freedom to poke fun at religions. That isn't even on the same level.
Read the title of the thread again if someone had done the samething at a jewish place of worship to the Tora i would be saying the same thing.....like i also said they are free to think and say as they choose but when you carry out those actions it crosses the line.
As for it not being on the same level you only feel that way because one event ment something to you the other didn't.

Why not? Not freedom of expression is not expressing you're dislike for someone? When did that happen? I didn't get that memo.
If someone flung dogshit at my house it is vandalism. Not a hate crime.

If they were just expressing their opinions, why hide from them ? The reason they just dropped the book and ran is more than likely beacause they knew what they were doing was illegal and lacked the courage of ther convictions.
Or maybe they are some stupid children thought this would be a hilarious prank to put forward?
Is this really a hate crime? Perhaps legally and maybe they do not like Muslims who knows. But if I were a Muslim I wouldn't go around whining because someone put a book on my door and try to strum up some big story over it. We have had people egg our church before and we just washed it off and had a laugh over it after and said well it needed a good washing anyway! If someone decided to desecrate the Bible and drop it off we would probably just say well at least the word is being spread. People just want you to get worked up over it and hope you do. If you are not bothered by it chances are they will eventually stop bothering you for not getting the result or reaction they were hoping for.

"Fun" is the operable word in "poking fun", Tricks.
There are no "levels" of hate.

Alright. So there are not "levels of hate". Anyone who ever flung shit on this board should be charged with a hate crime then. Including myself, and including you.

I know you guys think I am probably in the parade against Muslims. I am not. I may not be a fan of their religion, but I am not a fan of any religion.

so presumably you'd consider it freedom of speech if someone left a turd on a red ensign with a poppy stuck in it outside your local Legion branch on Rememberance Day
