The big bonus in this, from a Canadian perspective, is that Stephen Harper and his Tory pigs will very quickly begin to look like a miserable anachronism.
He's toast.

No, the big bonus in this on a Canadian and world scale is the American people elected an African American to the presidency. Do you even have the first clue you have witnessed a world altering event.

Dude try looking in the BIG box and past the tin hatting.
I wish it wasn't such a big deal that we elected a black man as President. It shouldn't be. I thought we were supposed to be race-blind in our selection and election.

Isn't that how it's supposed to go?

The pigs, the liars, the animals, the murderers.... have been turfed out.
God Bless President Barack Obama....
.....and God Bless America.
About 2 hours late but the other American hater is here, oh what’s that, he loves the new America. Shocking.
Too bad he'll have to live in CPC controlled Canada for the rest of his miserable life.
Congrats Obama!

I do not dislike Obama because of his race, I dislike him because of his character. I do not feel he is qualified to be President nor do I think he has the experience needed. Debating the merits is a moot point now. I just hope that I am wrong about the way I feel about him and why. I also hope that there is a country left for us in four years. I have never felt this apprehensive about an election, even when Clinton was elected.
There are a number of blacks that I would support as President. Obama just isn't at the top of my list. We will soon see what his true motives and intentions are. With full control of both houses, we are in for a wild ride.

The United States are here to stay. Don't worry about a singular politician ruining the country. It would take a lot more than a few bad Presidents to take the USA down.

Your right it shouldn't be a big deal. That is EXACTLY why it is a very big deal. That dream fought so dearly for has been realized tonight. That little old lady Obama spoke of tonight I don't think she would agree with you. If you try to negate that he is the first black President, then you disallow the dreams and struggles of all those who preceded him in their quest for equality.
It hurts my brain a little bit when you say that it is a big deal because it shouldn't be a big deal and it isn't.
Congratulations to President Obama. May you preside over four years of peace and prosperity with increased freedoms and such for all involved. Eight years if you're lucky.

What's wrong with his character?
I am curious as to what Bush will do as a lame duck President. Any thoughts?

Thanks lily. Interesting read, although of course I disagree with the article on its perspective and opinions and such.
